True motivational story: The Standing Boy of Nagasaki
The story is related to a picture Story of Strength from Japan. All across the world, several humanitarian has narrated this True motivational story. And each time the narration brings something new to this symbolic incident.
This is the version I like best.
The picture which we are talking about was taken in the year 1945. At Nagasaki at the time of World War II. The moment just after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. By America on 9th August. The picture depicts a Japanese boy of about 10 years waiting patiently for his turn. In front of a funeral pyre with his dead baby brother strapped on his back. In the story, the boy is filled with grief and sorrow. This is when he has been biting his lips very hard. So hard just to keep from crying and in this process, blood oozes out from the corner of his lips. The crematorium guard said to the boy, “Give me the load on your back.” And the boy replied, “He is my brother and he is not that heavy!”
This boy stood there silently watching the funeral pyre. This is burning slowly in front of his eyes, then turned walked away in silence. In Japan, even today, this image has universal acceptance as the symbol of Strength.
