Today, the world is full of entrepreneurs, but how many entrepreneurs are able to survive for as long as 30 years in the same industry. This definitely requires much dedication, reputation, honesty and trust with which one can keep growing for over 3 decades. Today, we are interviewing one such personality who is born and brought up in West Bengal.
DKS Logistics Founder
Meet Sushil Choudhary, Chairman Cum Managing Director for DKS Logistics. The firm under his banner has been able to create the right logistics with surface transport. With a large fleet of trucks and trailers, they are operating PAN India. Serving their customers all over. Have been instrumental in providing logistics services to the public as well as private sector companies. Logistics and shipping in Haryana government, jute manufacturing. They have licences for CNF, export, port licensing, shipping corporations too!
His journey and philosophy in Business
Mr Choudhary started his journey at a young age through the relatives business. Later moves on to set up his own firm which is operational in PAN Indian. The only policy to survive longer is, to be honest. He said that the firm tries its best to meet the commitments of clients to their satisfaction. He adds “we have learned that one should do hard work and deliver in the best interests of its customers. Try to resolve any complaints from the customers.
Old Business working Vs New
With the tons of start-ups, It is rare to have an interaction with the experienced entrepreneur. We ought to ask this question regarding how he feels doing Business then and now. According to him, earlier people used to lead a satisfied and honest life. However, there was much paperwork involved, adding to the storage space for files. The Government policies for entrepreneurs were less and were much stringent. Still, during those times most of the things were done on a trust basis. People used to respect words and commitment. Further, other people used to woe guarantees for another person. Today, no one dares to think of having guarantees for anyone. Forget about guarantees, people have become so professional that those relations are missing in today’s generation.
Today’s Culture
Today the generation is fast. They wish to accomplish million-dollar deals in few years and wish to enjoy the rest of life. Today you have new technology, ensures lesser manual or paperwork. Today, you can send an email in few seconds sharing your proposal, bid, or grievance. This much easy, simple and quick the systems have become. From your laptop, you can log in and have access to everything. Earlier the people used to stand in lines for hours for even the smallest things. One sector today has 100 competitors and still, new people keep venturing. With all these things the fact is people don’t have peace and satisfaction while doing business which was there in earlier times. Such golden words!
Talking about the MSME initiative in Bengal
Mr Choudhary shares his insights, “this is a very good step to have MSME, for the small industries”. Today’s budding entrepreneurs have a really good support system in terms of MSME facilities that the government is offering to them. With the loan facility from the government. The advantage of extra loan during covid like the govt gave an extra loan of 20% to all the affected entrepreneurs. MSME provides a good payment facility. It ensures and protects your right to be paid in 30 days. The industry today is asking about the MSME registration for the dealing firm. Accordingly, they mark the payment reminders of 30 days in their systems. The government is taking steps towards compliance with the terms and conditions. These steps will make an impact on their future prospects.”
Advice to the Youth
It is wise to ask for his advice especially for the budding entrepreneurs and to this, he said that ” You must consider work as worship. Your client must feel satisfied, after doing business with you. Having a positive mindset is also required, as there are many situations that you as an under have to face and still keep growing and moving on. Presently, the service sector has better growth opportunities, therefore the person should move towards these industries.
Situation after Pandemic
“Quitting business due to pandemics is not the choice to be made,” said DKS Logistics Founder. “Today, you have a pandemic, tomorrow there will be a global recession. Then, the economy slows down will come up. Such situations are a part and parcel of an entrepreneur’s life. Getting dishearten is not the way forward. This covid has affected everyone, it’s not only for one person who is affected. Stay in the same industry and keep looking for opportunities as the market review, things will get better. Those who know you from the beginning, have good relations in the same industry for years. You trust people and others trust you in the market” he further adds.
Question about moving to a new venture, in that case, DKS Logistics Founder suggested, “You need to have the expertise about your new business”. Understand what is the response in the new industry. Ideally, a person must diversify, rather than winding up. It’s vital for people to have patience. They should be optimistic about the situation in the ties to come. and it’s with everyone and not with one person who is affected and should carry on with same business. Still, if you wish to get into a new business then, my advice to you is, “Do it only when you’re aware of that subject and have comfort in that industry. Otherwise, you will keep learning during the initial years of your new business”.
