I would be unforgiving if I were Shah Rukh Khan. I would also seek 27 days in jail for former Narcotics Control Bureau officer Sameer Wankhede. That is the total number of days his son Aryan Khan was in imprisonment, 22 of which he spent at the infamous Arthur Road Jail.
I believe that the idea of justice necessitates that the punishment is proportionate to the offense.
And the sin here is that Wankhede sensationally pulled Aryan into the drugs-on-cruise issue without any proof and just on the basis of his own evil desire. It’s not enough that the NCB, in a humiliating U-turn, suddenly clears Aryan and places the burden for the severe witch-hunt fully on the shoulders of its former arrogant leader.
SRK must demonstrate that his son was in trauma by the abuse. He should also say that his family and he were in melancholy as they had to battle through a harrowing public trial to release their son from the NCB’s grasp. He should also claim damages to his films, which he had to face during that period.
I’m confident that a case for compensatory and punitive damages against the NCB and its controversial and haughty former director may be brought to the highest court of the nation. He is not just a disgrace to the law enforcement agency and his parent cadre, the Indian Revenue Service, but also a menace to the nation, according to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.
Wankhede also faces two criminal charges, including one for falsely obtaining a bar
license as a juvenile and another for allegedly organizing a phony caste certificate to get entry into the IRS. The Centre has requested that the Finance Ministry, which controls the IRS, take necessary action against him.
The Finance Ministry is a competent body, but I’m not sure how long it will take to investigate Wankhede’s deeds of omission and conduct.
Meanwhile, if he is caught for the purported case against Aryan and held at Arthur Road Jail for 27 days without bail, it will be an eye for an eye. That may comfort the country and its accusers that the central agencies are not constantly out to exact revenge on individuals who oppose the government.
