Madam Jeanne Louise Calment was born on February 21, 1875, in Arles, Franc. According to verified sources, she lived for 122 years and 164 days, making her the oldest person. It appears that her style of living was highly favored by fate.
The Eiffel Tower was completed when she was a teenage girl, aged 14. She first met Vincent van Gogh at this point. She remembers him as unclean, poorly dressed, and unpleasant in an interview she gave in 1988.
She started fencing when she was 85 and continued to ride a bike until she was 100. She appeared in a biopic about her life at the age of 114, then at the age of 115, she underwent hip surgery. Additionally, after beginning at the age of 21 in 1896, she quit smoking at the age of 117.
She didn’t stop smoking for health reasons; instead, she did so because she disliked needing assistance from someone to light a cigarette when she became practically blind.
Jeanne was 90 years old and unmarried in 1965. She agreed to sell her condominium to André-François Raffray, a 47-year-old lawyer.
He agreed to provide her with a monthly payment of 2,500 francs in exchange for the right to inherit her flat in the event of her passing.
Raffray, however, not only continued to support Jeanne for 30 years, but he also passed away at the age of 77 before she did.
Legally, his widow was obligated to keep supporting Madam Calment until her passing.
Jeanne was still able to think clearly. When questioned about her expectations for the future at the age of 120. “A pretty short one,” she retorted.
The following are Jeanne Louise Calment’s “Rules of Life”:
“Wine has my heart.”
“All newborns are lovely.”
“I worry the laughing will kill me,”
“Our Good Lord has forgotten about me.”
“I’m sitting on the one wrinkle I do have.”
“Although I seldom wear mascara, I often laugh till tears roll down my eyes.”
“Stop worrying about things that can’t be changed. Always keep your smile on.”
“I do this to explain my long existence.”
“I hear awful, I see bad, and I feel terrible, yet nothing is wrong.”
I may have “legs of iron,” but the fact is that they are beginning to erode and buckle a little.
“I enjoyed myself while I could.
I made decisions that were straightforward, moral, and regret-free. I’m incredibly fortunate.”
“Actually, I’m still a young girl; it’s just that over the previous 70 years, I haven’t looked that wonderful.”
The journalist concluded one interview by saying, “Madame, I hope we will meet again sometime next year.”
Jeanne then said, “Why not? You won’t be gone for long; you’re not that old!
L. Lichtenfells created the artwork depicting the person with wings.
