Today is the 65th birthday of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who is also known as the guru of the Art of Living. He is considered to be an Indian godman, a man with simple and unoffensive spirituality. He talks about well-being as a whole, global, peace, prosperity, and happiness. His work has been magical at the time of the Covid pandemic. I have interviewed him, he is a fun-filled person. Young at heart, and curious by nature. I think The Sudarshan kriya that he performs during the Art of the living session, which is a powerful meditation and breathing technique does all the work for him and suits him best. You will find him ever smiling which gives a feel of white shine on the face of a sun-tanned Tamilian. His eyes are always twinkling with mischief, and it is hard to not like him, he is adorable.
Meeting Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
I met Sri Sri Ravi Shankar many times but always for an interview and not to pay homage, and he liked it. He is supposed to be an enlightened person who is media savvy. While interviewing him I got to know about his views on politics, love, life-death, corruption, stress, and so on. He just talks freely on every topic. Once I had to interview him in a car as we were stuck up in an evening traffic jam. What a scene it was, with motorists honking, traffic lights blinking and traffic policemen blowing their whistle and waving their hands to control the traffic.
Sri Sri was sitting calmly when suddenly he asked his driver to stop the car. We were at Marine drive at that time, he said see there is a beautiful sunset, opening the door of the car. We can capture a good picture, are you ready for it, he asked me.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar About the Pandemic
The Covid pandemic had disturbed him, he opened a 100 bedded hospital at his Sri Sri University in Cuttack. He said the pandemic was a catastrophe, but it does not mean a disaster. He considers it as a temporary phase of uncertainty. People have faced such conditions as well as overcome them in the past. There is no need to panic, one only needs to be careful and cautious. But we must not be complacent and contended either. He thinks that perhaps nature wants us to slow down a bit, from hustle and bustle and rush we are in today He launched #World Madidates to help millions of people globally to fight their fears and anxieties through online sessions. He assisted people to fight the stress of the lockdown, isolation, stress related to an uncertain economy, job market, and a grim future. I must say he is doing his bit.
Happy Birthday.
