Happy birthday, Sanjay B Jumaani! Ideally, the numerology giant ought to have been holding a cake with candles. Instead, he is proudly standing with my new book ‘Moryaa Re!’ He has reason to be proud. Not because Jumaani is my friend. But because he’s helped me with this book in a big way. When for the first time in my work I suffered writer’s block, Jumaani simply advised me to change the font color on my computer screen from black to blue. It worked like magic. Overnight, I was able to pick up from where I left off. And the words flowed again. Then, when the book’s cover was ready, I showed it to him. Jumaani politely repositioned the title, added an extra ‘a’ to it, and suggested one color for the background, and another for my name, and the designer happily followed him. The result was striking and is there for you to see.
But this is about him, not ‘Moryaa Re!’ I hugely cherish his friendship. It’s been built over the years. Over good food and great films. And single malts and foreign whiskies. His lovely wife Jhernna is also my friend. When we go out for gourmet dinners, or to the multiplex for a film, Jhernna expertly drives their Jaguar while Jumaani and I sit behind having drinks from his mobile bar. At their home in Khar, when I am invited for a meal, Jhernna sportingly cooks non-vegetarian Sindhi food that is to die for, though she herself is a strict vegetarian, while Jumaani and I listen to music, watch films, and enjoy an aged Scotch. His success is a fairy tale. Jumaani was an unhappy, unsuccessful marketing executive for United Breweries for 17 years. His father, the legendary numerologist Bansilal M Jumaani, predicted a revolution in his life if he changed the way he spelled his name. It’s amazing what that simple shift did for Sanjay B Jumaani.
Today, he helps people around the world to transform their destinies by advising them to tweak the spelling of their names or reconsider their favorite color. He works his miracles using the numbers that add up to your name and birthday. That reveals your lucky planet, number, and color. It’s done in real-time. And he’s performed live on camera in TV reality shows. Jumaani does not read palms or ask for birth charts. There is no gimmickry behind what he does. Numerology is a science. It’s not astrology. And Jumaani is the world’s leading scientist. Mukesh Ambani goes to him. Also Shah Rukh Khan and Mahendra Singh Dhoni among so many others. I don’t need to go to Sanjay B Jumaani myself because he is already there in my life, a strong and silent friend who always stands by, telling me with a slow, lazy smile and a mischievous twinkle in his eye what I must do to realign my energies when it seems like the Universe is against me. Happy Birthday, dost.
