Come let’s know more about him, how did this idea come to his mind and his life journey too!
“Bollywood industry isn’t attempting to develop superhero movies”, says the real creator of the Indian superhero film Dushyant Kapoor. Yes, it’s in a way true… while the West is obsessed with technologically driven superheroes to save the earth. We in India have not done must credible in this space. Our today’s guest is a Director for his upcoming superhero movie. A self-made guy. In conversation about how he has actually started from fantasy stories in childhood. About superhero’s to actually making such movies on them in reality.
Defining Dushyant
Chasing his dreams from the age of 6 years. Each day he is getting better. Finding ways to get his voice heard in this universe. He has worked in the barter system to sustain himself. Dushyant has met 3570 people from 2014 till 2020. By all means, he is unstoppable. Who has defied all the odds of the people? There are people who suggested that add sex if you really want to get views or famous. Else, no one will watch Indian superhero stuff!
Dushyant gave the answer to all such people by showing his results. 2016, he made Mahakala, a superhero. that becomes the first-ever “Indian Superhero youtube series”. Its two episodes of Mahakal were trending over youtube. Then he created BOOM – Magic Pencil Returns. Of these 3 episodes were trending and people did make reaction videos too! in 2020, he made suit boy again superhero movie which became a hot favourite for the kids.
After delivering every bang on the performance of his superhero movie that too over youtube, he is up with a bigger vision and a bang on launch too with The Celestials.
His childhood

My father has been an engineer for the railways and we keep moving to different cities after every four years. I could never make many friends. To establish friendship, I begin to tell them fantasy stories based on the Harry Potter series. I keep telling my friends that I am a superhero with flying abilities. After school, I have a profession that requires me to save people. And this is the major reason for saving the world that my homework is incomplete.” lol. but jokes apart. He was actually creating the reality of his life in his childhood thoughts and dreams.

Coming back to his childhood stories, he convinced people that “One day this story will have a large following. The entire school will say that Dushyant is a superhero.” And with a giggle, Dushyant remembered that “My principal called me to reprimand.” After listening to such fiction imaginative stories.

Beginning of that dream?

A lesson he learnt for life is “I realised that if I want to be known, I need to keep telling people such imaginative things.” Guess what he keeps making such stories on anything and everything. It was 2008, and I recall making a film on papa’s phone, which he applauded me for in front of the guests after he saw it. That feeling keeps igniting me for years.

This also marks the beginning of the dream that he wants to make movies. Also, to work in the entertainment sector. Shaktimaan trailer was one of my creations. and it became so well-known on the internet that it was covered by various major press and bloggers. People will love Indian superheroes. However, they need someone who can create them, as far as I’ve learned. I decided to create my own superhero universe, titled “DK UNIVERSE,” in which I will tell superhero stories.

How do you see the Indian audience consumption for superhero films?
Superhero movie consumption in India is far too high, as I have personally witnessed. When superhero pictures get released in theatres, there is an overabundance of people. They also purchase high-priced tickets to see superhero films. People are spending a lot of money to see Marvel and DC movies. However, our Bollywood industry isn’t attempting to develop superhero movies, which is something that concerns me. Superhero films require a great deal of patience and hard work, which most people lack, which is why superheroes aren’t popular in India. But someone has to take a chance and speak up for it. This is a big challenge for the industry.
What influenced you to pursue a career in acting as well as directing? What do you enjoy the most?

The friends I gained by telling them fantastic superhero stories. I believed that if I just made my script available to everyone. Gradually I learn to create thousand of such stories. And finally made the decision to pursue a career in filmmaking.

Well, that’s a difficult question to answer since I enjoy both because acting is something I’ve always wanted to do and directing is something I’ve learned to do on my own through hard effort. When it comes to me, I believe that acting is more difficult for me than directing, so I prefer directing.4) You are also a director, can you share with us some of your experience of being a director? How was the transition for you from being an actor to a director?

Being a director is a difficult profession. You must multitask at all times and be available to explain your ideas to others. Putting what you’ve visualised with a group of people on television is a difficult task. When I was filming for my web series, there came a point where my teacher have to act. I was terrified at the time since he is the guy who has trained me. I was now directing him for my web show. That sensation made me extremely tense. I consider quitting at one point, however, I could pull it off. That is the learning point for me, where I realised how a director actually makes a film.

Tell us about your forthcoming projects and roadmap?
With “the celestials,” I’ll be making a new beginning at my DK Universe on YouTube. Then, I wish to move ahead towards filming in the theatres with a large budget. My Superhero characters will be adapted into live-action as soon as possible. I’ve also produced a dark drama thriller web show called “CHALAVA,” which will be launched soon.”
Give us some insights and what message do you want to give out to the young audience?
I’d like to see audiences embrace Indian superhero films in the same way they support Marvel and DC. Regardless of whether you dislike or love the film, you must see it. If you start viewing them, the future of Indian superheroes is in your hands; many filmmakers will do so as well and develop superhero films. Finally, what I want is for people to see Indian superhero films.
What’s challenging about bringing a script to life?
Making what you’ve envisaged in 3D is the most difficult element of the work. Visual effects and 3D work take up a lot of my time in the process, and occasionally the end result isn’t what I expected, so I have to redo the 3d work to improve it. Visual effects and 3D are all about how much time you devote to improving it, which is why I believe it is the most difficult for me.
Where initial years were a little hard on you. What do you remember of those years?

All I remember now is that I never gave up. Many individuals have tried to discredit me, even my own staff, who think I’m a lunatic working on something that won’t work. But it is an art form for me, and I will devote my entire life to achieving my goals of making a superhero movie.

What is your opinion is the most important quality in a film director?

The title “director” refers to the job of bringing writings to life with a wide range of emotions. It may necessitate a great deal of effort, technical competence, excellent human behaviour, and a deeper understanding of nature.

The entertainment industry is said to be full of stress and pressure; what do you do to tackle the pressure that comes with your work?

I take a big breath and imagine that whatever is taking so much time will be exciting to people. Because now everyone understands what goes into making a “Superhero” movie.
What’s something we should know about you that might surprise us?
I’m not sure whether this comes as a surprise to you, but I am a good vocalist, I know how to shoot a film, I can edit, I can do sound mixing, I can do visual effects with a little 3D work, and I know how to amuse people in real life. Aside from that, I’m always in character. well, we feel that Dushyant, himself is a Superhero! and indeed knows how to wear multiple hats with due perfection.
