ELINA: EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL ABOUT HER 

Don’t judge a book by the cover, goes a famous saying. C.Elina Sangtam (Miss Queen of Nations) proves this word for word. Her beauty shines bright because she has a beautiful heart. Moreover, she has a solid determination to bring a positive change to the world. A small start is all it needs..

Elina was born in one of the seven sister states, the beautiful state of Nagaland. She says she is blessed to have been born into a very supportive family. Her parents encouraged her in everything she determined to do.

ELINA SANGTAM’S FIRST LOVE: THE BEAUTY PAGEANT 

HER EDUCATION 

She graduated in English Literature from The Unity College of Arts and Commerce, Dimapur. During her college days, she took part for the first time in a state-level beauty pageant called “Nagaland Princess” in 2016. The organizers approached her family. Elina’s parents readily agreed for her to take part. Elina learned the ropes of taking part in pageants from the organizers. She was the 2nd runner up that year and also ‘The Most Photogenic Princess’ and ‘Miss Congeniality titles at the same event. It became her stepping stone into the pageant world. In her first year of degree college at The Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire, she won Miss Fresher.

 

PROACTIVE IN HER WORK 

Participating in such events prepared her for the National level in different pageants. Her first National event was in 2019 when she represented her state, Nagaland, in MIHM Miss Queen Universe. She won that pageant and later went on to win MIHM Miss Queen Universe International 2019 as well.

 

ALL ABOUT HER CHILDHOOD

Since childhood, Elina has had a helping spirit and caring nature. She thanks her parents and family, who have taught her to give back the best of whatever she has and help people in need. During her childhood, Elina took part in many social activities such as volunteering in hospitals, helping people whose houses were burnt and destroyed during calamities, etc. Elina knows that she wouldn’t be where she is now without her family’s love and complete support.

 

HER CONNECTION WITH SOCIAL WORK 

Having experience in social work helped her take part in the next event, Miss Queen of Nations, a beauty pageant for winners of various pageants held across India. This pageant was established by Miss Naaz Joshi, Winner – Miss World Diversity 2019, to raise awareness on social issues. One of the main criteria to take part in this pageant was social work and charity. They observed the contestants for a year on their work on various social issues by the panel.

HER ACHIEVEMENTS 

At this time, Elina created awareness on transgender & Women Empowerment of North-East Women. She also formed an NGO named Prince’s Charity Organization in Nagaland in 2018. Through this NGO, Elina and her team organized minor beauty pageants online for the community of North East to give them scope at the National Levels and raise awareness and opportunities for Transgender Community. She has been working for LGBTQ rights through her events. Elina used social media to strongly support Women’s Empowerment for the women of North Eastern states. She won the first-ever Miss Queen of Nations 2020 with her confidence, kind heart, and ‘always ready to strive to do good’ nature.

 

ELINA SANGTAM’S FUTURE PLANS 

When asked about what next, Elina says she wants to carry on her social work and expand it further into different forms through the digital platform. Knowing that there is very little being done for the North-Eastern community, she wishes to organize a ‘Mrs. Nagaland’s pageant for the first time for the married women of the community who don’t get as many opportunities to showcase their talent.

GIVING BACK TO HER SOCIETY

Many of the pageants that Elina organizes are online. She believes using digital platforms is the best way to reach out far and wide in today’s age. She says it is the need of the hour, especially now during the pandemic. People’s lives have become monotonous and dull. They are struggling to manage even daily activities of life. Such pageants boost the morale of participants and give them hope that there is good yet to come. It gives them a chance to prove to the world and themselves that they have talent. They can get a new direction in life.
Elina wants to promote Pageants on digital platforms to help more and more people gain confidence in themselves. She wants to remind everyone that the beautiful community of the North East with its rich cultural heritage is a part of this world that one should not forget.

ELINA – AN AMAZING INSPIRATION 

Elina is an inspiration to all young and old who have given up hope. With her beautiful smile that reflects her beautiful soul within, she spreads the light of hope and faith. She has achieved fame at such a young age but does not let that fame affect her true self. She shows us all that doing good for others, in whatever way possible, can bring about small changes that further lead to more significant changes and acceptance.

 

Our Storyteller – Nivi Kishore

 

An avid reader from childhood, Nivedita Karnad (pen name Nivi) has kept her passion for writing poems and life experiences since her college days. Her drive to write comes from her adventures and experiences. She feels that through writing one can express one’s inner feelings, making one free from the burden of life. Thus, she began a new journey in content / creative writing with www.storyofsouls.com

She left her thriving career in business development in interior design to dedicate her time to homeschooling her children and following her passion for writing. In her free time, her love for languages inspired Nivi to start Sanskrit Fun Learn classes from home. This further led to their parents asking her to teach other subjects in a similar way. Today she has about 15 students, each one unique, who show passion towards learning new things in a different way.

Nivi believes that learning should be fun and is dedicated to making tough boring subjects, interesting to learn by using engaging methods with her students. She encourages her students as well, to read and write in different languages, just as her teachers had inspired her to.
