That’s a quote by American writer and film director, Paul Benjamin Auster. And with the selfless efforts of Dr Mahesh Parameswaran Nair, that quote has become true. Dr. Mahesh is an IT Engineer by profession, who founded HOPE [Hold On Pain Ends] Charity Group. The group has touched millions of lives during his 7 years of social services. A journey that started with the 38-year-old man from Kerala, India, has now spread to 8 states of India with 1500+ volunteers. Shri Mahesh has also done admirable work during the Covid-19, which makes him a true ray of hope during these difficult times.
Meet Mahesh – the back born of HOPE NGO
It all started with the initiative of Shri Mahesh, whose philanthropic mind to help those in need, inspired many, both young and old, into it. The journey of HOPE NGO started as a vital thought, with Shri Mahesh behind the wheel. That though stirred the souls of many spirited people who were on the same frequency and inspired them to serve humanity. Shri. Mahesh, the spine, pillar, base, anchor, and LIFE of HOPE, works for the oppressed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
HOPE takes up both social and environmental responsibilities. The mission and vision of HOPE NGO are many, to name a few, are to stop the practice of begging, to work towards women empowerment, to provide medical aids, to provide food and shelter to the destitute, and to give educational assistance to the financially weaker children.
HOPE NGO’s activities in Kerala
HOPE has done several activities throughout Kerala. Some of them are listed below:
Provided shelter homes to 7 homeless widow mothers and their kids; Rescued 58 homeless people so far from various parts of the city.; Established two rehabilitation homes at Gandhibhavan,(Pathanapuram) the largest secular joint family in Asia dedicated to the destitute; Adopted a slum with 52 families in Thiruvananthapuram district., providing all infrastructure facilities also; Marriage assistance to 6 orphan brides; In addition to these, HOPE NGO volunteers make frequent visits to Old Age Homes, Mental Homes and Orphanages, and help them in the form of food, clothes, medicines etc.; Wheelchairs, walking aids, hearing aids and water beds for differently-abled have also been provided.
Besides financial support, HOPE has organized Blood Data Collection and Donation camps, Organ donation awareness, Hair donation camps, Voice Donation camps, Stem Cell sample donation camps, Medical camps, Dress banks, Tribal Welfare Programmes etc.
Environmental and other activities of HOPE NGO
As part of its Environmental Responsibility, HOPE NGO is taking up Vellayani Lake cleaning up activities. Shri Mahesh’s Team was also actively supporting during the Kerala floods 2018 and 2019 across the state of Kerala.
HOPE has provided educational support for children from economically backward families. As part of this, HOPE has handed over study kits to more than 800 children from the tribal area. It is providing assistance in the form of smart phone, laptops, Television, internet connection for the most under privileged children so that they can exercise their Right to education.
HOPE’s activities during Covid-19 pandemic
The world has gone through a nightmare since the Covid-19 pandemic started in 2020, but we should be thankful to God for people like Shri Mahesh who have truly given us hope. During the Covid crisis, HOPE has done several activities like bringing back stranded people, including Nurses and students from various parts of India, mostly from Maharashtra and Karnataka as part of its Back to Home program. He also served food and provisions for many who were homeless and lost their jobs. Apart from these he donated PPE Kits, N95 and 3 ply Masks, Face shields, Pulse Oximeters, Oxygen generating equipment, Hand Sanitizers, Sanitary Napkins, and Food and Dresses.
We also provided necessary Medicines and treatment aids for those who were suffering during COVID Pandemic. Mahesh rescued few homeless people back to their families and from streets to Government rehabilitation homes. He also supplied food and provisions to families of house maids, construction workers, Tribal and slum areas who were badly affected due to job lost considering covid lockdowns and social distancing.
Shri Mahesh has also supplied vegetable seeds to promote house farming on terrace or balconies during the pandemic. This was done so that people could avoid going to shops or Malls for basic daily food requirements during COVID time thus erasing the chance of social gathering.
Shri Mahesh and his team have now launched an Android / iPhone Mobile Application named KINDSERV during this COVID time to form a bridge between needy and Beneficiary in terms of Blood, Food, Dress, Medicines, Toys, Reading Books, Voice and Hair donation thus making services Online from any part of the world at a finger tip.
Interests and key skills of Shri Mahesh
Shri Mahesh likes to conduct seminars and training programs. His hobbies include travelling, and he loves to do charity, has good public relations, and attend events. Even though ,he is an IT professional, his mind is into social service and how to help the needy.
The key skills of Shri Mahesh include Motivational Talks, Public Speaking, Social Entrepreneurship Projects, Seminars and Internships.

Shri. Mahesh has received several recognitions for his socially responsible activities. A few of the Achievements have been listed below:
2017 Indias most inspirational youngster by Dr Shashi Tharoor MP; 2018 TNF Indian icon award by director of Achan irangaatha veedu (national award-winning movie); 2019 Indian Icon award by Bollywood actress Dia Mirza; Art of Living Sevaretna award in 2019; 2019 Sevakendram award; 2020 listed one amongst those top 7 COVID WARRIOR HEROES across entire INDIA; 2021 India Book of Records for feeding the most number of homeless people across Indian Roads; and 2021 Dettol India COVID Protector

Shri Mahesh recently received Social Entrepreneurship Excellence award from Minister of Kerala Chinchu Rani (Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Milk Co-operatives, Zoos, Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Government of Kerala)
Education and Professional Training of Shri Mahesh
Shri Mahesh completed his B-TECH ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS in 2006 from Kerala University Kerala, India. He became a CERTIFIED IBM MAINFRAME PROGRAMMER in 2007 and specialized in CICS, IMS, COBOL, SQL, JCL, VSAM.
The professional life of Dr Mahesh Parameswaran Nair
Shri Mahesh founded HOPE [Hold On Pain Ends] Charity Group in Jan 2014. He currently serves as Chairman of the organization, located in Trivandrum, Kerala India.
Shri Mahesh has been in the IT field for the last 14 years and he has worked abroad on several onsite projects. He started his work life as a Software Engineer of Patni Computer Systems, Trivandrum, Kerala India. Shri Mahesh worked in that job from May 2007 to Oct 2009. He now serves as Senior System Analyst at UST Globals Trivandrum, Kerala India, which he joined in Oct 2009.
